Today marks the 89th birthday of Miss Audrey Hepburn. On May 4th 1929 a little lady was brought into this world and no one knew what kind of effect she was going to have. Even now, 89 years after her birth and 25 years after her death, more and more people discover her, love her and admire her for the person she was.

Some of you may know that I’m Dutch and live in the Netherlands. Today, April 27, is King’s Day (or as we Dutchies call it: Koningsdag). King’s Day is the day of King Willem-Alexander’s birthday and the whole country celebrates it. Every year again the King, Queen Maxima and their 3 daughters visit a different city in the country where the city presents itself in the best way possible… Anyway! Enough for today’s class…

Christie’s in London had a huge auction in September last year with photographs, clothes and other personal belongings that were once owned by Audrey Hepburn. Most of those items were part of Christie’s exhibition in London for just a few days…

Some people you just never forget.
I always find it fascinating when people are still, for a lack of a better word: “relevant” so many years after “reaching their peek”.
Audrey Hepburn was on top of the world in the 50’s and 60’s with her movies Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, you name it… She then went on to be a mother to her two sons and made fewer movies and yet people never lost interest. There was always some kind of urge to see her. Whether that was seeing her in real life or on screen.
